![]() AUT CouncilThe AUT's main conference meeting, or council, was its ruling policy-making body and met once a year during spring. The agenda for council is governed by motions submitted by local associations and national committees. These motions related to issues affecting local circumstances, or more generally, were based on the annual reports of the national committees, which were circulated in late spring in advance of the council's approval. On rare occasions, issues of importance raised the need for policy debate outside of the normal council meetings, in which case special council meetings were called. Normally, however, the executive committee ran AUT's business between events. Voting delegates at the councils were drawn from the AUT's local associations, having been nominated through local meetings. AUT Scotland also held its own annual council meeting.
