Save Our Nurseries

Over the last few weeks NUS, UCU and UNISON have been receiving reports that a number of institutions and colleges in the further and higher education sectors are proposing to close down their nurseries.

Of particular concern is the volume and pace of nursery closures in further education, as part of the general downsizing taking place across the sector. Nursery provision is seen as a 'soft target' and that the long-term consequences of these closures will have a negative impact on accessibility and equality in the sector.

We are absolutely opposed to the closure of nurseries based in colleges and universities.
