FE Teacher and Trainer Qualifications Review Consultation Event

Wednesday 31 October 2012, 11.30am - 3.30pm, UCU Head Office, Carlow Street, London NW1 7LH.

One of the main recommendations from the interim report of the Independent Review of Professionalism led by Lord Lingfield, was a review of the FE and Skills teaching qualifications. This review will be led by LSIS, working collaboratively with the sector. The proposals and details of LSIS consultation meeting can be found at: http://www.lsis.org.uk/AboutLSIS/strategicprojects/FE-Teacher-Trainer-Qualifications-Review/Pages/default.aspx

The review is taking place in three phases: in phase one, LSIS carried out a series of initial conversations with employers, sector membership bodies and other stakeholders to inform the scope and focus of the review and develop proposals for new qualifications. During phase two LSIS is now seeking views and comments from the sector on the proposed changes. This will take place between 15 October and 26 November 2012. This link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Newquals will lead to an on-line survey where UCU members can comment on the proposals.

Finally, phase three will provide an opportunity for those with a detailed knowledge of qualifications to get involved in a series of expert working groups to support the development of the qualifications and the associated guidance.

As part of phase two UCU, together with the UCET Post-16 Committee, is holding a consultation event on Wednesday 31 October 2012 at 11.30am - 3.30pm at UCU's Head Office, Carlow Street, London NW1. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in attending this event, contact the policy administrator at dhendry@ucu.org.uk.
