UCU comment on Labour's pledge to protect education funding

UCU general secretary, Sally Hunt, said: 'For too long further education has had to bear the brunt of funding cuts. We are pleased that Ed Miliband has pledged the sector will not suffer the same plight under a Labour administration.

'Further education colleges provide the education and skills our young people need to get on in the world. Their fantastic work is too often overlooked and it is time proper funding was in place to match their ambition and drive.

'The Liberal Democrats have also put further education at the heart of their election pledges and we now need to see more details from all parties on their plans for education.'
