Members back action to save USS pensions

The online consultation on USS closed this week with an overwhelming 87% of you backing industrial action on a 56% turnout. Thanks to the tens of thousands who voted and showed that you're prepared to stand up for USS pension benefits. UCU negotiators met with the employers this week to begin detailed talks and you can follow the latest developments here

Tell us your views on industrial action

At UCU Congress 2017 Sally Hunt, proposed a commission on the effectiveness of different forms of industrial action. The commission has now been elected and members can submit their views and find out more about this work here.

University of Manchester strike: "give workers the respect they deserve" 

UCU members at University of Manchester will strike on Monday and Tuesday (23-24 October) next week over plans to make significant numbers of academic and professional support staff compulsorily redundant. The branch received further support this week from shadow education secretary Angela Rayner who called on the university to "get it's house in order" and "give workers the respect they deserve." There will be a rally on Monday from 11am at the Students' Union building and you can send messages of support to this address.
