Publication of the Diamond Review

27 September 2016

UCU Wales welcome the Diamond Review's proposal for increased maintenance support for all Welsh domiciled university students.

Improvements to maintenance support through a £1,000 non-means tested maintenance grant, along with an income related maintenance grant, will help to reduce some of the financial pressures faced by students. Meeting the everyday living costs whilst studying at university, is often one of the greatest barriers to accessing education.

It is hoped that the recommendations of both the Diamond and Hazelkorn Reviews herald a period of stability for the post 16 education sector. UCU Wales look forward to working with Welsh government and other stakeholders to create a robust, streamlined post 16 sector in Wales, that will work for the benefit of all students.
