UCU Aberdeen reps meet Scotland's First Minister

Union reps from UCU's Aberdeen branch formed part of a trade union group who met with the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP at the Scottish Parliament on 30 March 2017.

UCU Aberdeen reps meet Scotland’s First Minister

UCU's Mike McConnell and David Watts represented the Aberdeen UCU branch committee, who received the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Organising Reps Award at the 2016 edition of STUC Congress.

The branch were nominated due to the strong organising culture and structure which they have been developed over the past few years, enabling them to grow stronger, improve communications and become well organised.

The Aberdeen branch has faced challenging redundancy cases in recent times, but their engaged membership and democratic organising ethos has helped them fight back for their members.
