Migrant members' annual conference

 

The inaugural migrant members' annual conference will be held on Thursday 27 February from -  (registration and refreshments from 10:30) 11:00 - 16:00, UCU HO, Carlow Street, London, NW1 7LH.

Registration - deadline for registration is Thursday 13 February

Motions - deadline for submission of motions is Thursday 6 February

Branches/local associations are invited to submit up to three appropriate motions relevant to migrant members. Motions must have been approved in accordance with a branch's local rules, by either:

  • a quorate general branch meeting
  • a quorate branch committee meeting
  • a properly constituted meeting of migrant members

Nominations - deadline for submission of nominations is Thursday 13 February

Nominees to this committee must be in good membership standing, be a migrant member, (this being self defined) and be employed with the last 12 months.

General conference information

 

Access requirements

If members have any specific access requirements (e.g. documentation in Braille, audio loop, wheelchair access etc) please provide us with full details on the relevant section of the registration form to ensure that we can make suitable arrangements.  Alternatively please contact Sue Bajwa sbajwa@ucu.org.uk

Dietary requirements

Lunch will be provided. Please give clear details where prompted on the registration form if there are any particular dietary requirements (e.g. vegan/halal/gluten free/allergies etc). 

Expenses

Reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be paid to cover costs necessarily incurred in attending the migrant members' annual conference, including participants' travel from work or home addresses' within the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Expense claim forms will be available at the conference.  UCU expect members not to incur any more expense than necessary.

Please note that receipts for travel must be provided when claiming expenses.

There is plenty of opportunity throughout the day to network with other colleagues.   The conference discusses and votes on motions submitted by branches/local associations. The carried motions advise the NEC about the views of migrant members.
