Prison education annual meeting
A conference for branch delegates employed in prison education.

This meeting is for prison education reps. The meeting hears reports on the work UCU do in relation to prison education staff and provides an opportunity to debate the challenges facing prison education staff. There will be workshops to address particular issues facing prison education staff, and there will be a keynote speaker. During the day there will also be plenty of opportunity to network with colleagues.
Venue & times
The meeting will take place on Friday 27 March 2015 at UCU Head Office, Carlow Street, London, NW1 7LH. 11:00 (Registration form 10:30) till 16:30.
Each prison education department may send one voting representative. An established prison branch may also send one voting delegate.
Registration - deadline is Friday 13 March 2015
All delegates must register online here.
Each branch/prison education department may submit one motion to the meeting. Motions for consideration and decision will be limited to matters of direct concern to staff in Prison education and not to UCU members generally.
Motions submitted by branches/prison education departments must have been approved either by a quorate branch/general meeting.
The deadline for motions is 5:00pm on Friday 6 March 2015. Motions should be returned to Sue Bajwa by e mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
The 2014 meeting was held on 28 March. Speakers included Sharon Barrett, NOMS & Richard Ward, Offender Skills and Employment Team.
The 2011 meeting was be held on Friday 25 March 2011.
The 2010 meeting looked at UCU's work on prison education
and OLASS3 and new funding arrangements
The main issues for discussion were the current re-tendering process and the impact on members' employment, pensions and TUP E protection. There were also discussions about the way UCU can organise and prepare for possible transfer to different employers as well as organising and recruitment of new members.
