UCU statement on Turkey's invasion and occupation of North and East Syria

'UCU condemns the invasion and occupation by Turkey and the violent persecution of Kurds and other ethnic minorities in the region. US president Donald Trump's withdrawal of troops from the region violated negotiated agreements and has led to extreme violence, political instability, ethnic cleansing and a potential refugee crisis.

'UCU offers solidarity with the Kurdish people and calls on the UK and EU governments to take meaningful action to oppose the Turkish invasion, including significant sanctions of President Erdoğan's regime and pressure on NATO to suspend Turkey as a member.'
