UCU UK elections 2025-26

25 September 2025

UCU has a national executive committee, elected by the union's members. Elections take place annually.

Nominations opened on 26 September 2025 and closed at 5:00pm on 11 November 2025 for the following positions:

  • Vice president from the further education sector,  becoming President 2028-29
  • By-election Vice President from the higher education sector, becoming President in 2029-2030
  • Members of the national executive committee

Nominations opened on 10 October 2025 and closed at 5:00pm on 14 November 2025 for the following position:

  • Casual vacancy: Geographically-elected NEC member, FE North West

The term of office for this casual vacancy will be from the declaration of the election result until the end of UCU's annual Congress in 2027. 

Ballots for all contested elections set out in this list will open on Friday 30 January 2026 and close on Monday 2 March 2026. 

Candidates have the opportunity to provide an election address which will form part of the ballot material sent to members. 

Results of these elections will be made available to members as soon as practical after the receipt of the scrutineer's report.
