Your branch committee raises issues of concern to members with management and reports back from meetings to members via reps, emails and meetings. A network of reps keep your branch in touch with what is happening in their prison but we need a rep and/or health and safety rep in every prison.
2024/25 pay claim
We are seeking:
- a 10% or £3000 increase in pay, whichever is greater, keep pay in line with the cost-of-living increases and include an element of catch-up for the real terms pay cuts suffered over the past decade.
- meaningful joint work leading to an agreement to address unmanageable workloads.
It was submitted in August 2024 and so far have not had a response. We are following this up.
Reps and contacts
These play a vital role--and we are always looking for more members to help out. Reps provide individual support to members (full training and support is provided) whereas contacts distribute information and raise our profile.
The current Weston College prison education branch chair is Peter Bell; click here to email inquiries to the branch.
