Threat to cut adult education funding 'an act of self-sabotage' that flies in face of Labour's missions
7 February 2025
Responding to a report in FE Week that adult education budgets are set to be cut by 2%, UCU general secretary Jo Grady today said:
'We need huge investment in adult and community education if Labour is going to achieve its mission to get Britain working again and grow the economy.
'To instead cut adult skills funding would not only be an attack on opportunity, but an act of self-sabotage. Labour urgently needs to think again, provide the money to raise staff pay and start to properly utilise adult education so it can truly deliver the skills and education opportunities that adults, employers and communities need.'
