UCU responds to AI guidance for colleges

Responding to the publication today of AI guidance for schools and colleges UCU head of further education Paul Bridge said: 'Any advice about AI for staff working in education settings is welcome and this guidance is a helpful starting point. We are however concerned that it still puts a lot of pressure on individual schools and colleges to come up with their own plans and procedures when they are already stretched and lacking the resources to dedicate to this.

'We believe it is important that education professionals are given the time and support to be able to determine if and when such technologies should be deployed to assist with student learning and staff teaching. Government and employers must ensure that the sector is properly funded and staff are fairly paid and properly trained to ensure this is possible.'
