USS valuation changes agreed but more to do

Since 2023, UCU has been engaged with Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) to improve stability, increase transparency, and allow for better long-term understanding and judgement of the security of members' benefits in the USS pension scheme.
Following UCU proposals in March 2025, the USS trustee board recently confirmed recently that it was minded to adopt a number of UCU's proposals, subject to further engagement and consultation later this year.
This is a positive development and a significant win for all USS scheme members. We believe that these changes will add further protection to members' pensions and were achieved through the solidarity action of UCU members.
