Equality and the Employment Rights Act 2025

UCU has published a briefing on the equality provisions in the Employment Rights Act 2025. Implementation is expected in phases across 2026 and 2027, with many measures still subject to consultation.
We will continue to update branches as further details emerge.
In the meantime, action branches can take now include:
- reviewing existing policies to ensure compliance with the law
- elect local equality officers
- engage with members and non-members about the Act and its benefits for workers.
