'This consultation and the promise of legislation next year is welcome. We will ensure the voice of Scotland's lecturers and academic staff is heard loud and clear during the consultation period and that the outcome means that staff and students are fully involved in the running of Scotland's universities.'

The Scottish Government consultation on governance in higher education institutions runs until 30 January 2015.
