Streamlining proposals at the University of South Wales

16 June 2017

The joint trade unions at University of South Wales remain in dialogue with management over streamlining proposals at the university.

The streamlining proposals initially saw 139 posts at risk across the University.  Following a successful voluntary severance scheme the number of at risk posts has been reduced to 57 (less than half of which are academic posts).

A number of the affected academic posts are managerial in nature so UCU remains hopeful that if members are unsuccessful in obtaining new managerial posts, they may be able to secure some teaching duties as suitable alternative employment.

UCU has also been involved in negotiating proposals for harmonisation of terms and conditions and members who transferred from University of Wales, Newport  will be balloted on the proposals shortly.
