HE offer 2024/25: member consultative ballot

Following a decision by UCU's higher education committee, we are running a formal electronic consultation of HE members in participating institutions on the final pay and conditions offer for 2024/25. This launched on Tuesday 12 November 2024 and closes on Tuesday 3 December 2024 at 17:00.

UCU's higher education committee recommends that you:

vote to REJECT the pay element of the offer, and
vote to ACCEPT the terms of reference on the pay-related elements (contract types/casualisation, workload, equality pay gaps, pay spine review).

This consultative electronic ballot launches on 12 November and closes on 3 December. Please look out for your email from Civica Election Services.

Background

The 2024/25 negotiations started in April 2024 when UCU, alongside the joint campus unions (Unite, UNISON, EIS and GMB), submitted their joint claim to UCEA (the University and College Employers Association). After months of talks, negotiations concluded in September 2024 when UCEA tabled its full and final offer.

UCEA's offer covers both pay and terms of reference for negotiations on a pay spine review, contract types, equality pay gaps and workload.

On 27 September UCU's higher education committee (HEC), at a meeting informed by the outcomes from a meeting of branch delegates, considered the final offer and voted to reject the pay element of the offer and to accept the terms of reference. HEC also voted to launch a formal consultation of members on the offer.
