Retraining revolution

7 July 2020

UCU, the Association of Colleges and Students Organising for Sustainability have written a joint letter to the chancellor and the minister for skills to make the urgent case for a commitment to a major new investment in further education in order to close the skills gap that is rapidly widening across the low carbon sectors.

This comes ahead of a UK government announcement on initiatives to support a retraining revolution in the economic update on 8 July 2020.

The letter argues that new and updated skills are urgently needed in order to transition to net-zero and to adapt to climate change, and that now is the time to act.
