UCU statement on COP27
As Egypt prepares to take over the COP27 presidency, UCU and other trade unions are calling for Egypt to end its repression of workers, trade unions and activists. Read UCU's full statement here.

COP27 climate themed learning campaign
COP27 climate themed learning campaign: join other education union members and educators in running climate themed learning. This is to align with the UN COP27 Climate conference, taking place in Egypt in November and provides an opportunity for UCU members to take action within their own roles to progress action on the climate and ecological crisis.
Climate and ecological emergency annual meeting: Thursday 10 November
Climate and ecological emergency annual meeting: Thursday 10 November 2022. Register to join other UCU members for the annual meeting for climate and ecological emergency. The meeting will share updates on the work of UCU in this area, discuss motions submitted by branches and include election of committee members.
Mass mobilisation: Saturday 12 November
UCU is supporting the call for mass mobilisation across the country on Saturday 12 November to put thousands of people on the streets to demand climate justice in solidarity with the Global Day of Action called by Egyptian groups at COP27. From the national and global cost of living crisis, climate impacts in the global south and the demand for climate reparations, and the urgent need to end fossil fuel extraction and for a workers-led justice transition--we will rise up together and fight for justice. Green New Deal claim at University of Liverpool
Groundbreaking 'Green New Deal' claim submitted jointly by University of Liverpool's trade unions and Guild of Students to achieve radical action on climate change. Local politicians including Paula Barker MP, Dan Carden MP and Kim Johnson MP back the claim.
